Tip of the Day #9 – Use an Avocado in Place of Butter

Since baking season is fast approaching, consider using avocado in place of shortening or butter in your cakes, cupcakes and muffins. You’ll be using one of the healthiest fats available and your desserts will come out beautifully. Avocado replaces 1:1 for butter. It browns quicker, so you should reduce your oven temperature by 25 percent and increase your baking time to make sure your sweets are done throughout.

The fat in one stick of butter is more than three times higher than in the same measurement of avocado, so by replacing the butter in your recipe with avocado, you will be allowing your family and guests to take that sweet treat with much less guilt or waistline worry.
